Germinating Herbs

One of the fun parts of Horticulture Therapy is getting patients together who have never seen a seed go through its metamorphis. This week has been the beginning of a new crop of bedding plants, perennials, vegetable and herb plants. I decided to start with some of the herbs first. So far, we have started: Basil, Chamomile, Chives, Dill, Oregano, Parsley (its the wrong kind, but gonna try it anyway...its "Hamburg Rooted"), Sage, and Thyme. Decided to try our hand at growing Portulaca from seed and Blue Bonnets.

Let the growing begin!

  3. Joey... I don't make anything with the herbs at work. However, I do buy some herbs for myself because of the good prices at the shop. I always buy lots of basil because I LOVE fresh pesto!

Red Clover... if you have the room to start seeds inside (the lights etc) basil is wonderful to seed inside. Get fresh seeds and it will reward you with a multitude of plants. Transfer outside when they are taller so that they can branch out and give you volumes of herbs for PESTO (or whatever you like fresh basil for--grin!)

    Thanks!
