Budding Cellos...

I know I won't be a great cellist... but at least the dogs don't howl when I start practising as they once did almost a year ago when I first started playing.

I got up with the alarm clock at 4:50 am this morning to practise my cello.  It brings forth the ironies of life:

How ironic is that I struggle to find time to practise my cello at age 46.  When I was younger and had all the time in the world, I was not interested in practising ANY instrument.

Sigh.

Going to spend a wonderful day working on cleaning up the flowerbeds with the Horticulture crew.

  1. My son practices cello at least 3 hours a day. It is his "homework avoidance" tactic. However, he really is getting good at it and it is better than listening to a set of drums or electic guitar balsting in his room.

  2. Good for you. Besides the piano, it's the only instrument I've longed to play!

  3. I'd admire you for taking up the cello again! I wish I'd learned to play any instrument.

    Happy Easter!

  4. Congratulations Kathy,
Almost a year. I'm sure you can hear the improvement. Keep at it. The cello has such a calming and sensual sound. Yo Yo Ma will be in our town at Lehigh University's Zoelner Arts Center this fall. Unfortunately, I can't afford the cconcert.

  5. Dusty Chris... it is amazing how the corollation of hours of practise to improvement in sound of the cello. 3 hours, that is a lot for me, I guess there isn't much that I can do for 3 hours straight.

Joey, Sweetflutterbys 3, and Marie... thank you for stopping by and your words of encouragement!

  6. You can come practice cello at my house. I'd luv to sit and listen as long as your willing to play.

Maybe the dogs have gone deaf. Just kidding. I bet they're impressed with your progress.

  7. I have been told that adult beginner students are the most difficult and I would tend to agree. I have heard celloists that are fabulous and recognize the warmth of a well played instrument. Thanks again!
